OVERVIEW OF LAO CAI TOURISM (Part 1)

Lao Cai is a mountainous province in Northern of Vietnam, covering a total area of 6,364.03 km², with a 182.086 km border adjacent to Yunnan Province, China. It is an appealing destination for both domestic and international tourists.

The allure of Lao Cai tourism is created by its unique climate, the grandeur of its natural landscapes and the vibrant cultural tapestry of 25 ethnic groups. LAO CAI CITY – PEACEFUL AND FRIENDLY

Located along the border, Lao Cai city, with its international border gate, serves as an important gateway for trade between Vietnam and the Southwestern provinces of China, as well as provinces further inland in the country.

Lao Cai boasts a comprehensive and convenient transportation system, including roads, railways and waterways, complemented by modern railway stations and bus terminals. With a history spanning thousands of years, the city is home to many historical and cultural relics such as Thuong Temple, Mau Temple, Tan Bao Pagoda, Doi Co Temple, Cam Lo Pagoda, ancient fortresses and Cam Duong revolutionary base. Modern architectural works such as the Provincial Convention Center, the Great Square, the Heroes’ Monument and the 25-storey Manor Building demonstrate the city’s development as a dynamic urban center.

In addition, Lao Cai city offers a variety of shopping experiences, especially at Coc Leu Market, famous for its local specialties. It plays an increasingly important role as a “bridge” and economic hub along the Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong economic corridor and in the Greater Mekong Subregion Cooperation area. In 2010, the city was recognized as a “City of Friendship and Cooperation with China” by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Other Countries. In 2014, Lao Cai city was awarded the title of “Green-Clean-Beautiful Urban Area” by the Vietnam Urban Association.

SAPA – WHERE HEAVEN AND EARTH MEET

Located 38 km from Lao Cai city, Sapa is a popular tourist destination in Vietnam, famous for its poetic beauty hidden in the mist.
