At the end of the 19th century and before the 1980s of the 20th century, when Sa Pa traffic was still difficult, the trade and exchange of goods of the ethnic minorities here were mainly transported by horses and carried by human power. And the fair is the only place for people to come to buy and sell, exchange goods, meet friends, relatives, etc.. Clothes and goods together go down the mountain to attend the market on Sunday morning. Therefore, Saturday night is a true festival, when boys and girls meet, loved ones, friends rejoice with a cup of tea, a cup of wine, with a song, a tune, a flute, etc. and love market appears in the minds of the people as simple and straightforward as the original meaning.

Previously, Sapa Love Market was held at the church square. From early Saturday evening, down the street and in the churchyard, women dressed in their best clothes were laughing and joking. The boys prepare musical instruments together. It was dark, Sa Pa was engulfed in a thick fog and chilly, the roads leading to the love market area became more crowded and busier than ever. That's when the dance of the mountains began to speak. The sound of the trumpet is sweet when it's low and high, when it's rushing, it blends with the sound of the lute, the clear flute, creating a love song of the enchanting mountains and forests. Through the sound of flute and trumpet, the boys have the opportunity to contact, get acquainted, and confess their feelings to the girls. When they fell in love, they exchanged awkward, loving glances. Just like that, the love of the couple blossomed from the love market. This market has not found a lover, they will meet again at the next market.

Today, the love market seems to have lost its inherent identity.
