This is one of the activities within Sapa Winter Festival 2018. It is planned to take place from December 24, 2018 to January 3, 2019. The event is organized by Tam Duong District People's Committee (Lai Chau Province) and Hoang Su Phi District People's Committee (Ha Giang Province), in collaboration with the Department of Culture & Information and Sapa Tourism Association.

Tam Duong and Hoang Su Phi are both districts receiving heavy tourism development from Lai Chau and Ha Giang Provinces. While Tam Duong stands out with unique cultures of the Lao and Lu ethnic groups and ancient stilt houses in Na Luong Village, Hon Hamlet, Tac Tinh Waterfall and Tien Son Cave, Hoang Su Phi (Ha Giang) possesses wild and spectacular natural landscapes with primeval forests, terraced fields, ancient Shan tea hills, the over-2,400-m-high Tay Con Linh mountain, and various recognized relics and heritages. These pose great tourism development potentials for Hoang Su Phi and Tam Duong, especially eco-tourism and community culture tourism.
